it sounds like you are trying to transfer the uv's.... but to what and why I am unsure. The question was very vauge

sometimes using a sample space of component instead of local is what you are after, and you'll have to test. Transfer UVs has been VERY buggy in the last 2 versions of maya, and unless you need to, I wouldn't recommend it. I would just duplicate the object.
Sorry , that was vague. Actually it was for Lenny's shoes. But that's okay I just UV-ed it again and placed that directly over the other set. Thanks!!!! :)
